So, you have secured your apprenticeship and are ready to start your journey in the professional world. Office Etiquette is essentially all about how people expect you to behave in the office.

By understanding and employing the following office etiquette rules you'll be mastering office manners.

What Does Office Etiquette Mean?

Following unwritten standards established by employees in the workplace is referred to as office etiquette.

In order to maintain a pleasant workplace, these guidelines apply to having acceptable attitudes and behaviours, being polite to other employees, and using equipment appropriately.

In this blog, we offer tips that you may find common sense but are very important and sometimes forgotten.

1- Be on time!: Punctuality is really important when it comes to working. Punctuality here is not only regarding attendance, but it’s also about joining meetings on time, respecting deadlines, and preparing for upcoming calendar events. Having a time management skill is something you can easily work on and it will make you stand out as an apprentice in return.

2-Be nice to everyone: of course, it applies to life generally. But how you treat people is a considerable reflection of you—so being friendly and supportive to your colleagues is essential. Being the apprentice with “poor social skills” is not what you want in your feedback. So, avoid interrupting your colleagues, smile at everyone you pass and listen to others’ ideas. Not only will it set a good tone, but they’ll probably show you the same respect in return.

3- Stay home if you’re sick: Being away from the office sometimes is a good thing, especially during the current Covid19 situation. It’s highly appreciated to stay away from the office if you have the symptoms. The golden rule says you should stay home if you are contagious or the whole office will be sick and harm the productivity of your colleagues.

The list is long when it comes to office etiquettes, and walking down the apprenticeship route will make you discover more tips and gain soft skills that will make you appear as the professional one.
